Announcements

PROM TICKETS are on sale now through February 25th, at a reduced rate for early purchase. The cost will be $40 until February 25th. Starting March 1st, the cost will increase to $50 per ticket. The last day to purchase a ticket is March 19th. You will pick up your tickets the week of March 29th. All students attending the prom MUST have a ticket to enter and tickets are NON-TRANSFERRABLE. Payment for prom tickets is NON-REFUNDABLE. Dates must be pre-approved.
 
 
The sophomore class will sponsor a talent show on Saturday March 20 at 7:00 in the auditorium.
If you are interested in performing please see Ms. Wilson in room 109 to sign up.
Entry Fee: $5.00 per act (1 to 3 performers in the act )/ $10 entry fee for an act with more than 3 performers
Entry fee to be paid after you audition
Tryouts are after school in the auditorium on the following dates:
Tuesday March 9
Wednesday March 10
Thursday March 11
Dress Rehearsal is after school on Thursday March 18.
 
BHS Character Education Department is providing a workshop for parents and teenagers starting on Monday, March 1st.   The workshop provides parents with the knowledge and skills to help their teenagers to succeed at home, in school, and in the community. Each family that completes the 5 week workshop will receive two $25 gift cards, one for the parent and one for the student.  Please see Mr. Burns or Ms. Jenkins in the main office for an application.  
 
 

Sports News

Cheerleader Workshop: Come and work on your cheer skills with the Buford Varsity Cheerleaders! They will help you learn new skills or improve on the skills you have. The weekly sessions will focus on motions, jumps, dance, stunts and tumbling. The cost is $5 per session for each girl who participates and the time will be from 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. We will begin on Tuesday, March 9th at the BHS gym. These classes are for girls in grades 3-12. All proceeds from this fundraiser will help purchase replacement uniforms.


The Track Team is selling Otis Spunkmeyer cookies from now until March 15th. Please see a track team member, Coach McKinnon or Coach Loudermilk, if you would like to buy some very good cookies in support of our track team.

Club News

Relay for Life Team  and the Buford High School Tumor Terminators are sponsoring a Womanless Beauty Pageant on March 26, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. in the Buford High School Gym.  Entertainment will be provided by various students and school groups. 
 
PROM TICKET COMMITTEE will meet in Mrs. Gaissert’s room (303) Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays each week until tickets are completed.
 
BHS National Honor Society will be sponsoring three fundraisers during the month of March.  All money collected will go to the National Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Pennies for Patients:
1.        Each week in March, vote for your favorite college basketball team with donations.  Brackets in the cafeteria will display the “winners” each week.
2.        On Thursday, March 11, buy “specialty” cupcakes and cookies in honor of National Pi Day.  (Cupcakes and cookies are round.)
3.        Later in March, vote with donations for “Buford’s Best Ride,” a contest to prove once and for all who has the best “wheels” at BHS!
This will be a lot of fun and the money collected will enable you to help someone in a big way.
